Jewellery Care

To maintain your jewellery's life and lustre, frequent cleaning is recommended. Salt water, chlorine in swimming pools, soap, perfumes and perspiration take their toll on all fine jewellery. Wipe your jewellery carefully with a soft jewellery cloth to keep it clean and free of these elements that oxidise (tarnish).  To avoid oxidisation of your  jewels, keep them in the velvet pouch or box provided.

Misuzi uses a combination of Solid Gold, 925 Sterling Silver, Gold Filled, Vermeil Gold metals and a high 2.5 micron 18k Gold Plate.  All Misuzi pieces are hand made to order in our Melbourne studio.

What is Gold Filled?

Gold filled is solid gold melted and pressure bonded onto a base metal core, with an industry standard of no less than 5% of solid gold weight per piece.

Gold Filled wears like solid gold as its outer surface is solid gold.  Gold Filled offers all the same physical characteristics as solid gold such as beauty, durability, strength and most importantly, longevity.

Our jewellery can be worn for years, and best of all is easily updated or changed (goodbye ex boyfriend's initials!) with new charms, hoops and chains. It is not costume jewellery. Since you are guaranteed a substantial layer of gold on your Gold Filled jewellery, with reasonable care it will last for many years.

Misuzi Gemstones

Misuzi uses only the finest precious and semi-precious gemstones including turquoise, opals, jade, rubies, amethyst, emeralds, coral, quartz, onyx and crystals.

Gold Vermeil and Gold Plated Jewellery

Our jewellery is either 18k or 14k gold Vermeil ( a thick layer of solid gold pressure bonded over a sterling silver (925) base) or gold plated with a very heavy layer of gold, meaning our pieces are shower proof.  Any gold plate will wear eventually so to maintain and extend the life of your gold plated items, we recommend keeping gold plated pieces away from salt water, perfumes, lotions and perspiration.   Before exercising, showering or swimming, remove your jewellery to ensure the longevity of the plating. Clean gently with a soft cloth and do not use a treated jewellery cloth or any abrasive rub on any plated metals.
